Three Central Reserve Police Force troopers were injured in a powerful grenade explosion at Jehangir Chowk area in the heart of summer capital Srinagar on Saturday afternoon.

Police said terrorists tossed a grenade at a CRPF patrol, injuring three troopers.

"The injured were shifted to SMHS hospital for treatment," a senior police officer said.

The area where the explosion occurred is close to the civil secretariat complex, where the offices of chief minister, ministers and senior bureaucrats are located.

High tension gripped the area, which was surrounded by the security forces for searches.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
