Congress MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday expressed confidence that he would become the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh "sometime in future".
"I will come before you as chief minister one day. It may be two days or two years. With your blessings, I will become chief minister. Things would be favourable for us," he said in Kadapa.
The Kadapa MP was addressing a gathering after launching the 'Abhaya Hastam' life insurance scheme for Self-Help Group women.
Jagan, as he is popularly known, was projected as the right successor for late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy by the supporters of the former chief minister.
The proposal was shot down by the Congress high command who made it clear that K Rosaiah would continue as chief minister and that there would be no change in the arrangement in the near future.
Jagan and his family members had a meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi last week. Though there was no official word on what transpired at the meeting, reports suggested that Jagan's political future and the issue of who will contest in the by-election to Pulivendula assembly seat, held by Rajasekhara Reddy, was discussed.
