Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday lateĀ  night met Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu at the latter's residence in Hyderabad.

Farooq, who was on a day's visit to Hyderabad to attend few programmes, drove to Chandrababu's residence at Jubilee Hills and spent over half-an-hour with him, TDP sources said.

"Farooq Abdullah and Chandrababu Naidu are good friends for many years now. It was just a courtesy call by the Union Minister," a senior TDP leader said.

The two leaders reportedly discussed the political situation in the country in general and Andhra Pradesh in particular following the death of Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

The minister earlier in the evening visited Reddy's house and consoled the bereaved family.
