Top Maoist leader Kobad Ghandy, who was arrested in New Delhi, appears to have managed to procure a voter identity card in a different name from the national capital, police sources claimed.

The police have seized the voter identity card bearing the photo of Ghandy, but with a different name 'Dilip Patel' using an address in west Delhi's Janakpuri, sources said.

This identity card is among compact discs, a pen drive and laptop recovered from Ghandy after he was arrested by the Delhi police's special cell on September 21 from Bhikaji Kama Place following an intelligence input.

Residing in a rented accommodation in Badarpur and allegedly working to set up the base of the Naxalites, Ghandy was charged under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act with being a member of the banned terror organisation.

Ghandy, who is in charge of expanding the banned organisation's influence in urban areas, also used nine aliases like Dilip Patel, Narsi, Arvind, Rajan, Katif Ansari and others while he was staying in Delhi and other cities.

"We are interrogating him," Delhi Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal told mediapersons when asked about Ghandy. He was sent to three days police remand on Monday.

Describing Ghandy as a "treasure trove of information on Naxals", sources said they are trying to ascertain the identities of those who were in touch with the Maoist leader in the city.
