Dominic Xavier offers his take on the decisions by the Bharatiya Janata Party governments of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh to file cases against several senior journalists and asks what happened to Narendra Damodardas Modi's commitment to free speech as expressed in his August 24, 2012 tweet: 'As a common man, I join the protest against crackdown on freedom of speech!
