"The RJD is a sinking boat and no one will like to ride this boat during the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar. The captain has lived his life and is not in a position to navigate the RJD ship to the jetty," Yadav, who resigned from the primary membership of the party, told reporters in Patna.
He alleged that his brother-in-law was behaving like a dictator and giving preference to sycophants with no base in Bihar.
The former RJD Rajya Sabha member said the days of his charismatic brother-in-law and undisputed leader of the Yadavs were over and hence he should bid farewell to politics and allow a new generation of politicians to emerge.
"Lalu Prasad should retire from politics as he has lost his sway over the voters, particularly Muslims and Yadavs, and he would bite the dust during the upcoming assembly elections," Yadav said and added that the reins of the party should be handed over to the younger generation for the party to survive.
On joining the Congress or the Janata Dal-United, he said he would decide in a couple of days after consulting his supporters.
He praised Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for controlling the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and said he must be given a chance to rule the state for yet another term.
Meanwhile, reacting to media reports, Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman and media in-charge Premchandra Mishra said the party is not willing to induct Subhash Yadav into the fold.
"We induct leaders into the party on the basis of merit. The party has decided to give preference to those leaders who had stood with the party during its bad days," Mishra said.
