"The BJP will not support the bill without a discussion on it. We want a discussion before it is put to vote," BJP deputy leader in Lok Sabha, Gopinath Munde told reporters after its weekly Parliamentary party meetingin New Delhi.
Staying firm in its stand taken on Monday on the discussion issue, Munde said, "There is a gap between what the
government says and what it does. Congress president Sonia Gandhi had declared that the government will get the Bill passed on International Women's Day. It is not honest about its promises."
"We appeal to the government to get the Women's Reservation Bill passed at the earliest," he said. BJP president Nitin Gadkari, who is not a member of either house of Parliament, also attended the meeting.
