The Jammu and Kashmir high court on Wednesday imposed a blanket ban on reporting the investigation part of Shopian rape and murder case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation, which is investigating the case, should not reveal anything to the press, a division bench of the court comprising Chief Justice Barin Ghosh and Justice Mohammed Yaqoob directed when the case came up for hearing.

17-year-old Aasiya was found dead along with her sister-in-law 22-year-old Neelofar in a stream in Shopian on May 30. Their deaths had led to 47 days of protests in the town with locals alleging that security personnel were responsible for the crime. The CBI took over the investigation into the case on September 17.
