The secure airspace over United States President Barack Obama's location in Seattle, Washington state, was violated by a small plane on Tuesday afternoon, following which two F-15 fighter jets were scrambled to intercept the intruder, ABC News has reported.

The fighter jets were scrambled from the Air National Guard unit in Portland, Oregon, but by the time they made it to the skies the intruding aircraft had managed to disappear was never intercepted, it reported.

The likely scenario was that the pilot of the small aircraft did not realise the airspace boundaries, officials told ABC News. After it landed about eight miles away from the president's location, Secret Service agents were readying to interview him.
