Rao gets court notice in St Kitts case
The Delhi high court on Tuesday issued notices to the Central Bureau of Investigation, former prime minister P V Narasimha Rao and former Union minister of state for external affairs K K Tewary in the
St Kitts forgery case.
Justice Anil Dev Singh issued the notices on a criminal
revision petition filed by the People's Union for Civil Liberties
challenging the two leaders's discharge by the trial court in the case.
After hearing the arguments of petitioner's counsel Shanti
Bhushan and Prashant Bhushan, the court asked the three parties to reply to the show-cause notices by October 15.
Rao and Tewary were discharged by Special Judge Ajit
Bharihoke in the case after he found no substantial evidence
against them.
However, the judge had framed charges against the other two accused,
tantrik Chandra Swami and his secretary Kailash Nath Agarwal.
The petition said that, but for Rao's complicity in the
case, the false document would not have acquired the
''counterfeit look of genuineness''.
