Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan dead

Noted Pakistani singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan died on Saturday in a London hospital.

Khan, in his early 40s, was admitted to Cromwell Hospital last week when he arrived for treatment of his heart ailment, said Samine Parvez, spokesperson for the Pakistan embassy.

Khan died following a cardiac arrest on Saturday. Preparations were being made to fly his body home to Lahore later in the evening, she said.

Khan was considered one of the world's greatest singers of Sufi devotional music.

Besides singing several songs in Pakistan, Khan has composed music for a few Hindi movies. His movie Aur Pyar Ho Gaya was released only on Friday throughout India.
