Lata won't call it a day, to pen autobiography

Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar says she is not planning to retire from singing, just yet.

The 68-year-old singer told journalists in Nagpur on Wednesday night that she is planning to write her autobiography. She is in the city for the Dinanath Mangeshkar award ceremony. Admitting that she could not devote much time for classical music, Mangeshkar said she took up playback singing to support her family after her father passed away in 1942.

Her sisters Asha Bhosle, Meena, Usha, brother Hridayanath and Shiv Sena leader Raj Thackeray were also present at the conference.

''Raj is here as a family friend and lover of classical music,'' Hridaynath Mangeshkar said. Lata Mangeshkar gave a show in Bombay last month for Thackeray's Shiv Udyog Sena.
