Ram Nath Kovind's vote share in the presidential election is the lowest since 1974, Press Trust of India reported.
Kovind received 2,930 votes with a value of 702,044, while his rival Meira Kumar, the joint Opposition candidate, secured 1,844 votes with a value of 367,314.
This comes to a vote share of 65.65 per cent for the new President.
However, the victory margin is the lowest since the 1974 Presidential poll.
Pranab Mukherjee (2012-2017):
Secured 69.31 per cent votes
Pratibha Patil (2007-2012):
Secured 65.82 per cent of the total votes, marginally higher than the share secured by Kovind.
K R Narayanan (1997-2002):
Secured 94.97 per cent votes.
A P J Abdul Kalam (2002-2007):
Secured 89.57 per cent votes.
K R Narayanan and A P J Abdul Kalam secured the highest victory percentages since 1974.
Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy (1977-1982):
Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy is the only Indian elected unopposed to the highest Constitutional position in the country.
Giani Zail Singh (1982-1987):
Secured 72.73 per cent votes.
R Venkatraman (1987-1992):
Secured 72.28 per cent votes.
Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma (1992-1997):
Secured 65.87 per cent votes.
Besides K R Narayanan, only two other Presidents secured more then 90 per cent vote share.
Dr Rajendra Prasad (1957-1962):
Secured 98.99 per cent votes.
Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan (1962-1967):
Secured 98.24 per cent votes.
In the first Presidential election, Dr Rajendra Prasad had a 83.81 vote share.
V V Giri (1969-1972):
The lowest margin of victory for any Presidential candidate was during the 1969 election when Giri secured just 48 per cent of the total votes.
15 candidates were in the fray in the 1969 poll, the highest in any Presidential election.
Dr Zakir Husain (1967-1969):
Dr Zakir Husain bagged 56.23 per cent votes.
He was the first President to die in office.
Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed (1974-1977):
Secured 79.94 per cent votes.
He was the second President to die in office.
