Charges: Desecration of the Quran

The Punjab police arrested Naresh Yadav after he was booked in connection with desecrating the Quran in Punjab's Muslim-dominated town of Malerekotla last month.

Yadav had been campaigning for his party for next year's Punjab assembly elections.

He was arrested after Vijay Kumar, one of the accused in the desecration case, claimed he had done it at the AAP MLA's behest.

Last heard, Yadav had been sent to two days in police custody.

 


Name: Amanatullah Khan

Constituency: Okhla

Charges: Threatening to rape and kill a woman

Amanatullah Khan was arrested on Sunday, July 24, from his home in Delhi's Batla House area for allegedly threatening a woman 'party worker' with rape and murder when she approached him to complain about frequent power cuts in the locality.

The complainant claimed the minister did not meet her and while she was leaving, a youth came out of Khan's home, abused her and threatened her that she would die if she did not stop politicising the matter.

 


Name: Dinesh Mohaniya

Constituency: Sangam Vihar

Charges: Sexual harassment

Dinesh Mohaniya was booked after a complaint was filed by a woman who visited his office and residence with others to complain about irregular water supply.

The MLA, who is also vice-chairman of the Delhi Jal Board, was virtually dragged out of his seat by a police officer when he was talking to reporters at his office in Khanpur, South Delhi.

He spent 14 days in judicial custody after which he got bail.

 


Name: Mahinder Yadav

Constituency: Vikaspuri

Charges: Rioting and assault on public servant

Mahinder Yadav was arrested for allegedly leading a violent protest after a three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 45-year-old relative in West Delhi's Nihal Vihar area.

He along with a few others allegedly damaged police vehicles.

 


Name: Manoj Kumar

Constituency: Kondli

Charges: Cheating and land grabbing

Four cases were registered against Manoj Kumar, including land grabbing, outraging a woman’s modesty and causing hurt, at three police stations in East Delhi.

Kumar said the charges against him were politically motivated. He is out on bail.

 


Name: Surender Singh

Constituency: Delhi Cantonment

Charges: Assault on municipal worker

Surender Singh was charged and arrested under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Act after he allegedly roughed up a New Delhi Municipal Corporation worker in the Tughlaq Road area when civic officials were conducting a routine check and had apprehended an e-rickshaw driver to check his documents.

The former NSG commando was later granted bail.

 


Name: Somnath Bharti

Constituency: Malviya Nagar

Charges: Domestic violence and abuse

Somnath Bharti was booked on charges of allegedly 'instigating' some men to misbehave with a woman who works with a non-profit organisation in early July.

Earlier, Bharti had been chargesheeted for attempting to kill his wife Lipika Mitra and inflicting cruelty on her in a domestic violence case.

He also faces charges of molestation and assault and promoting enmity stemming from the January 2014 raid on the African residents of Khirki Extension in his constituency.

 


Name: Akhilesh Tripathi

Constituency: Model Town

Charges: Misuse of power and rioting

Akhilesh Tripathi was booked for allegedly using his influence over Public Works Department officials to allow the illegal use of a government flat.

However, the case was dismissed by a Delhi court which said it could not proceed against the legislator without a valid sanction.

Earlier, he had been chargesheeted in a 2013 case by the police on charges of rioting, rioting armed with a deadly weapon, unlawful assembly, criminal intimidation and for obstructing a public servant in the discharge of public functions, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. He was arrested and sent to judicial custody, but later secured bail.

 


Name: Jitender Singh Tomar

Constituency: Tri Nagar

Charges: Fake Degree

Jitender Singh Tomar resigned as law minister in Arvind Kejriwal's government after it was revealed that he had a fake law degree.

Tomar was arrested on June 9, 2015, following an investigation into a complaint by the Bar Council of Delhi that he had obtained a fake law degree from a Bihar college. He had submitted a 'fake and bogus' undergraduate degree in science from Avadh University to get enrolled in the Bishwanath Singh Institute of Legal Studies College, Munger, where he reportedly obtained an LLB degree. Tomar is currently out on bail.

 


Name: Jagdeep Singh

Constituency: Hari Nagar

Charges: Assault and criminal intimidation

The Hari Nagar MLA, who refused official accommodation in the posh Civil Lines area, was arrested on May 30 on charges of assault.

Singh had allegedly beaten up a manager of a waste management company. He was granted bail since it was a bailable offence.
