Obama visit chat: Professor Sumit Ganguly

United States President Barack Obama wound up his 10-day Asia tour on November 14. As part of our series of chats to make sense of Obama’s visit, Professor Sumit Ganguly will discuss the Asia tour in general and the impact of the India leg in particular.

Prof Ganguly is a political science professor, director, India Studies Program, and holds the Rabindranath Tagore Chair in Indian Cultures and Civilizations at Indiana University, Bloomington.

A specialist on the international politics of South Asia, he is the author, co-author, editor, co-editor of 20 books on the region.

Professor Ganguly has been a guest scholar and fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, DC, a visiting fellow at the Center for International Security and Cooperation, and a visiting fellow at the Center of Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law at Stanford University.

His most recent book is India, Pakistan and the Bomb: Debating Nuclear Stability in South Asia (with S Paul Kapur). He is currently working on his new book Deadly Impasse: India-Pakistan Relations at the Dawn of a New Century.
