Barbie turns 50!
March 10, 2009
Barbie is now available in 150 countries, with the doll adopting each nation's unique style. So the Indian Barbie is decked up in a saree, the Japanese Barbie wears a kimono, the Scottish Barbie wears a plaid skirt and the African Barbie wears a traditional native attire.
With over 100,000 eager collectors across the world, a vintage Barbie doll sold for a whopping US $17,000 at Christie's auction house in London in 2006.
