Bharatiya Janata Party's [Images] Rajya Sabha member Su Thirunavukkarasar has decided to resign from the party and the upper House of the Parliament as he is all set to rejoin the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam [Images].

While talking to rediff.com, Su Thirunavukkarasar said that he would take a final decision on the matter after he talked to senior BJP leaders L K Advani [Images] and Rajnath Singh.

"If an invitation comes from the AIADMK, I will certainly consider it," said Thiruvaukkarasar.

The politician from Tamil Nadu was elected as a member of the Rajya Sabha from Madhya Paredsh. "I am unable to recommend even one Kendriya Vidyalaya seat for a student in my state. This is a great hindrance for my political career," rued Thirunavukkarasar

The 60-year old leader, who unsuccessfully contested from Ramanathapuram in the Parliamentary polls, has previously been elected to the Lok Sabha from Pudukottai in 1999 on a BJP ticket.

Originally a member of the ADMK formed by late Tamil Nadu chief minister M G Ramachandran, Thirunavukkarasar has served as a member of the Tamil Nadu assembly for 22 years, during which he has held the positions of a state minister and the deputy speaker of the assembly.

He subsequently got elected to the Lok Sabha and joined the National Democratic Alliance government as the minister of state for shipping in 2002-2003 and then as minister of state for communication and information technology in 2003-2004.
