The pre-assault operations of planning, mobilisation and embarkation was carried out at Karwar in Karnataka. The Amphibious Task Force sailed from Karwar on February 5 and landed on the shores of Madhavpur on Monday, the sources said.

They used the newly inducted Landing Platform Dock 'INS Jalashwa', several large landing ship tanks, fleet ships with their integral helicopters, shore-based aircraft and submarines from the Navy and Coast Guard's hovercraft.
