Women hid their sons to avoid LTTE net

April 25, 2009
Silva said things have come to such a head that women had to hide their sons in a hole dug in and covered by the thatched fire place to escape the prying LTTE men on the look out for new Tiger fighters near the 'no-fire zone'.

The visiting journalists were also allowed access to some photo albums, which had group photos of the LTTE leader with his wife, son and daughter.

A lady, who fled the 10 sq km long 'No Fire Zone' along with her four-year-old grandson, said they had had enough of deafening sound of gunfire. "Enough is enough. We hope to live in peace at least from now on," she said.
