Dawn prayers in one of China's oldest mosque in Beijing

Chinese Muslims gather at Niujie Mosque. This is Beijing's oldest and largest mosque -- built in 996 AD -- and is surrounded by food stalls. Beijing Chinese congregate here for morning prayers during Ramzan.

China incidentally has some 34,000 mosques and a population of about 20 million Muslims
