Mangalore limping back to normal

September 16, 2008
Mangalore began the day on a tense note in view of the stabbing incidents that occurred late on Monday night. Four incidents of stabbing were reported in Mangalore, but two were not connected to the ongoing communal violence.

While the Srirama Sena went around enforcing the bandh forcibly, members of the Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishath stayed away from it. Karnataka Bajrang Dal chief Mahendra Kumar told rediff.com that they were in no way connected with the bandh. He also said that they did not support it and preferred a dialogue on the issue instead.
