If it was essentials for some, for others, it was losing their loved ones. "Seeing the water come in, I panicked. My husband was at work. My brother grabbed me and the kids and rushed to safety. I couldn't even wait for my husband. Now I don't even know if he is alive," said Kamala Devi.
Some even lost their kids in the rush. "I was at home and my three children were playing close by. I was swept away and the elders picked me up. I did not want to come without them. But they dragged me along. They said there are other villagers behind and they will get the kids. It has been 14 days now," said Anita Devi.
Of all the people in the camp, she is the worst off. She doesn't know where her husband is, where the kids are and she has got no belongings. She doesn't eat or sleep. "Two of our men go in the morning and evening to the place where the flood-hit touch land and check. But till now, they have found nothing," Salahuddin said.
