Your experiences in Delhi are quite similar to what is happening right now with regard to the Muslim society (Basharat mentions how he found it virtually impossible to find a house the post-Parliament attack and how even the pizza delivery boys won't come to the Muslim areas.)
I was a reporter with Rediff and I couldn't get a house. I became a reporter with Tehelka at a better position and things still did not change. This is a fundamental problem. It is always a reminder of showing you your place even if you want to embrace India.
Otherwise, why the **** is it that a Muslim can't find a place apart from Batla House or Zakir Nagar? I am a Kashmiri and my politics are different. I never call myself an Indian. But the biggest question for Indian society is: Why do you have to be like this? That really tells you something.
