Confusion and chaos reign supreme. Millions yearn for food and shelter. Satellite imagery shows that some 11,600 square miles of area was devastated by the storm -- home to almost one-quarter of the population.

Five regions -- Yangon, Ayeyarwwady, Bago, Mon and Kayin -- have been decimated. The population of the declared disaster areas is estimated at 24 million, with an estimated 6 million in Yangon.
