The United Nations has pledged to send a disaster management team immediately on humanitarian grounds, if the reclusive country asks for its help.
International aid organisations, including the Red Cross, was working with the government to provide drinking water and temporary shelters to the displaced people, said reports.
Many residents were reportedly angry about the slow aid efforts undertaken by the military government.
