All eyes are on the Lok Sabha where the United Progressive Alliance government will seek a vote of confidence on July 22.
But even before that, there are many questions over the conduct of the trust vote.
One, of course, is over the Speaker’s role. Should incumbent Somnath Chatterjee step down as Speaker, as his party boss Prakash Karat wants him to in order to swell the Left’s numbers against the government?
The other is if the government should move a trust vote, or wait for the Opposition to bring in a motion of no-confidence against it?
Who decides the order of the debate during the trust-vote? Will the Lok Sabha special session on July 21-22 be an all-night affair?

What happens in case the government loses the trust vote? What are the options facing the nation?
Who better to answer these and other questions relating to the conduct of the House’s business than former secretary general of the Lok Sabha, Dr Subhash Kashyap?
A renowned Constitutional expert, he is also the author of many works on the Constitutional law and parliamentary affairs.
Subhash Kashyap will appear on the Rediff Chat on July 16 at 6 pm IST, to shed light on the conduct of the vote of confidence.
(Due to circumstances beyond our control, date and time of chat may change).
