Before one of my performances in Herat, an amusing incident occurred.
The Iranian consul general rang the Indian consulate and inquired about the kind of clothes I was going to wear during my performance. Would I be well-clad or would there be a lot of skin showing? He never did turn up, which amused the Indian consular staff.
The Pakistani consul general was a native of Peshawar. He loved the performance and chatted with me. Quite a few missionaries from India, who work in the hospitals and schools, were present. About 70 people attended my performance in Herat.
