Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is ranked 18th in Newsweek's list.
He is credited with rescuing Brazil from 'the edge of ruin'. As a result of his policies, the nation now has $207 billion in Treasury reserves and the lowest inflation rate in the developing world.
