Hemal Jhaveri, Rippon's neighbour, also viewed the scene from his bedroom window.
"There was a nakabandi (a police check behind specially positioned barricades) going on. And then there was all this whistling. I really was not sure what was happening. I saw two gun flashes. I did not see the terrorists shooting. But I saw a policeman get shot. He just slumped to the ground right there (close to the intersection)."
That was when Hemal grabbed his cell phone and started shooting the scene on his phone's video camera. His clip of the terrorist being bravely captured by the policemen at Mumbai's D B Marg station, which he forwarded on to friends, has since been posted on the Internet.
Hemal is not sure exactly why he decided to catch the encounter live, except perhaps with the aim to forward footage of a scene he could hardly believe was happening in front of his eyes.
