A P J Abdul Kalam: For inspiring a generation 'Youth power is one of the powering systems' August 12, 2008The former President on his thoughts about India's youth
India is definitely progressing toward an economically developed nation and youth power is indeed one of the powering systems. During the last two weeks, I have visited four states: Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. India, 61: The icons that make India I interacted with a large number of youth in these states. I am inspired by a common thread from them on the partnership between the 'Developed India Vision 2020' movement and youth. For example, many youth are employed and at the same time they are finding time to educate people, support the teachers who teach them, to take care of cancer patients and many such worthy causes. I also came across a reformed person who came out of extremist tendencies and is now promoting societal transformation through education. Some people have been promoting art and culture among people. The net result of meeting such youth gives me the confidence that the country is moving in the right direction. How to empower them and enrich these success stories? When I met them, I have asked 'What can I do for you?', they all replied in unison that 'we don't need anything sir, except your blessings.'
A P J Abdul Kalam changed the Presidency by opening Rashtrapati Bhavan and his heart to the children of this country.
