The 300-km Pathankot-Jammu-Srinagar highway, the only road connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country, has been completely reopened to traffic and over 900 vehicles, including trucks and tankers, have ferried essential supplies in and out of the valley.

"The highway is totally restored for vehicular traffic between Kashmir and the rest of the country. There is no economic blockade and traffic is plying as normal today," defence spokesman Lieutenant Colonel S D Goswami said.
Terming the propaganda of economic blockade as totally wrong and baseless, Colonel Goswami said that over 536 vehicles, including trucks and tankers moved in and out of valley till this morning, while 261 vehicles traveled out of Kashmir on July 5.

The Army, which has been handed over the job to keep the highway trafficable, has intensified patrolling along the highway.
"There were no incident of clashes on highway or attacks on vehicles as such today," he said.

Kashmir-based separatist and mainstream political parties including Hurriyat Conference, People's Democratic Party and Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front had alleged that the highway was closed to block essential supplies to the valley.
