'From ma generation to me generation'

April 30, 2008
Was writing Superstar India an enjoyable task? Was writing one chapter or another more enjoyable?

That's very hard to say. But the chapter I feel strongly about is the change in our young generation from a 'ma' generation to a 'me' generation, where one letter of the alphabet can make such a big difference in attitudes. The whole idea of family as we know it is under threat. But I hope it never crumbles.

Was the planning of the book difficult because the book has so many thoughts?

I wouldn't say difficult because I sometimes joke that it probably was a book that I've been writing for the last 60 years, from the time I was in my mother's womb! India has such a high impact on those who live here and who are sensitive to the changes happening here. The book wrote itself. Once I started, it was like a dam had broken. There was just so much material. The difficult part was when to stop. I could easily have written this book for two years and I still wouldn't have covered it all.
