A protest rally was also staged in Rome's Capitol Hill in support of the agitating Buddhist monks in Myanmar.
The Association of South East Asian foreign ministers called upon the military junta in Myanmar to desist from the use of violence, even as the regime is reported to have closed cyber cafes and cut telephone lines in its crackdown.
