Rallying for democracy in Myanmar
September 28, 2007
In the Philippines, hundreds of protestors marched down Manila, chanting slogans and expressing solidarity with Myanmar's protesting Buddhist monks. The protestors, chanting 'Free Burma now', denounced Myanmar leader General Tan Shwe and the military junta. Philippine President Gloria Arroyo, who was in from New York for a meeting of the UN General Assembly, called on Myanmar to release all its political prisoners, including democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi, and hold a dialogue for national reconciliation
