A day after over 40 Bihari labourers killed in Assam by United Liberation Front of Asom, angry people across Bihar have burnt an effigy of Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, took out a protest march and demanded immediate safety and security to victims families.
Different political parties also protested and demanded compensation and safety and security to all Bihari labourers in Assam. All of them condemned the killings. Over 40 Bihari labourers, engaged as brick kiln labourers and milkmen were killed in Assam's Tinsukia and Dhemaji districts on Friday and Saturday.
Angry people in Patna, Siwan, Muzaffarpur and Vaishali protested the killings of Bihari labourers in Assam on Sunday. They also burnt effigy of Gogoi.
The CPI(ML) took out a protest march in Patna on Sunday. After the march the party demanded action against ULFA.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal has demanded compensation of RS 10 lakh each to kin of those killed and safety to all those labourers in Assam." We will put pressure for compensation by Assam government as well as Bihar government to victims families" Abdul Bari Sidiqui , state RJD president said.
The Lok Janshakti Party of Union Steel Minister Ramvilas Paswan has warned to launch rail-roko agitation in Bihar if action was not taken against ULFA, responsible for killings. "LJP will stop all the trains either coming from or going to Assam that passing through Bihar" Ghulam Rasool Blyawi, state LJP president said.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday announced compensation of Rs 1 lakh each to kin of those killed in Assam and sent a five member team comprises of three minister and top police officer to Assam. The team met the victims' kin on Sunday in Assam and were asked to take stock of the situation.
Meanwhile, Bihar has been put on alert and heavy security deployed on trains coming and going to Assam.
