Lakhs pay homage to Dr Ambedkar on death anniversary

For political parties, especially the Republican Party of India, the event is an opportunity to woo voters. The RPI factions in Maharashtra however, are faced with a formidable challenge from Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati.
Mayawati was in Mumbai recently, and addressed a large gathering of Dalits at Shivaji Park in an attempt to lure away a large chunk of the RPI’s supporters.
