Onashamshakal

August 27, 2007

Kerala is at its greenest during Onam.

Folks celebrate the beauty of the land and the harvest with ten days of celebration.

Floral designs, called a pookalam, are created in family courtyards to welcome Onathappan.

The intricacy of the design and its colour scheme have a significance on each day of the festival.
