Winners & losers: Tim Mahoney

In Florida's 16th District, Democrat Tim Mahoney defeated Republican Joe Negron. The result was more or less a foregone conclusion, after the seat opened up over the resignation of Republican Mark Foley following revelations that he had sent lurid e-mails to underage Congressional pages.Political newcomer Tim Mahoney, a one-time Republican recruited by the national party to run against Foley, vowed to work across party lines. 'One of the very first things I am going to do is take active steps in getting ethics reform and making sure our values and morals are represented,' he said as supporters cheered.
