Slain telecommunication engineer K Suryanarayana's wife Majula, who attempted to commit suicide Monday night, was shifted to the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology in Hyderabad in a ''critical'' condition early Tuesday.
After first aid at the Poulomi Hospital, she was taken to the AIG with moderate to severe damage to her gastrointestinal track following consumption of about 200 ml of a toilet cleaner which had a concentration of hydrocholric acid, AIG Director and Chief Gastroenteroligist D Nageshwar Reddy told UNI.
''Though the bleeding has stopped, her condition continues to be critical,'' added Dr Reddy under whose supervision a team of gastroenterologists were attending on her at the AIG Intensive Care Unit.
''She can recover as other vital organs are not damaged,'' he said adding the AIG had decided to treat her ''free of cost''.
Hours before the body of her husband, who was killed by Taliban militants in Afghanistan, was brought to Hyderabad Monday night, Manjula took the extreme step on coming to know of a woman who claimed to be Suryanarayana's second wife.
