A nation's prayers save Prince

July 24, 2006
Prince was finally rescued late on Sunday evening.

After creating a parallel 55-foot hole in a nearby well, a horizontal tunnel eight feet long was dug to link to the shaft where Prince was, this operation taking 13 hours.

Next, soldiers dug a passageway with their bare hands that linked to the irrigation shaft.

One soldier reached out to Prince and, along with four others, took him back through the pipe and up the abandoned well.

Thousands cheered when Prince emerged from the 18-metre-deep pit, cradled in the arms of a soldier, wrapped in a white towel and looking dazed but unhurt.
