The Anti-Terrorist Squad of the Mumbai police, which is probing the July 11 serial blasts that rocked the city's commuter trains, has busted three modules of terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Tayiba operating in Mumbai, sources said on Friday.

One of the modules was being led by Kamal Ansari hailing from Madhubani district of Bihar while key LeT operative Faizal Sheikh of Mumbai was spearheading the other, the ATS said.

The third module was busted following the detention of LeT suspect Abdul Hameed from Surankote area of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir, it added.

However, senior ATS officers admitted that there was still no convincing evidence to suggest that these modules had any knowledge, or had participated in the July 11 blasts.

"There is no doubt that these modules had the potential to foment trouble in Mumbai, and it cannot be denied that the ongoing blasts probe led to their arrest. But none of them could be called as perpetrators of blasts," a top ATS official said.

Mumbai Police Commissioner A N Roy told PTI: "We have many pieces of a jigsaw, but what we are looking for is the right piece, which can put all these pieces in place and solve the case."
