V Narayanaswamy, Congress member of Parliament from Pondicherry, on Wednesday moved a privilege motion in the Rajya Sabha against former external affairs minister Jaswant Singh over his flip-flops in the 'mole in the Prime Minister's Office' issue.

The notice has been taken up for consideration by the chairman of the Rajya Sabha Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekawat, who is expected to give his ruling shortly.

Speaking to newsmen after moving the privilege motion, Narayanaswamy said that Jaswant had mislead the house on the issue of mole in the office of former prime minister Narasimha Rao government in 1995 and hence a notice against him is called for.

"Even the honourable Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] asked him about the name of the mole, but he had no answer. He spoke for over two hours but there was no mention of the name of the mole," he said.

Rajiv Shukla, another member of Rajya Sabha, said that the persons Jaswant had named in his interview have sent their denials and said they have nothing to do with the mole business.

"A former ambassador said that his term ended in 1984 and the kind of language used in the so called letter is not his," Shukla said.

Shekhawat, chairman Rajya Sabha, disallowed any discussion on the issue until he had seen the notice and will then give his ruling on the matter. Congress party is pressing for recommending the issue to the Privileges Committee.
