Former chief minister Rabri Devi was Friday elected as the leader of Rashtriya Janata Dal legislature party in the Bihar assembly.

She was unanimously elected as leader of RJD legislature Party in a meeting of newly elected 54 legislators of the party in a specially convened meeting in Patna on Friday evening.

Her husband Railway Minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav was present in the meeting along with Union Minister of Rural Development Raghuvansh Prasad Singh.

Now it is clear that Rabri Devi will be leader of the opposition in state assembly.

Rabri Devi said that her role will be to expose the shortcomings of  National Democratic Alliance government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in state.

"If Nitish Kumar fails to fulfill promises, we will raise our voices for the people" she said.

She was chief minister from 1997 to February 2005.
