A first case of meningococcemia was reported in Jaipur on Monday at the Jaykay Lone Children Hospital, official sources said.

An eight-year-old boy, Rahul, was brought to the government hospital from Behror in Alwar district on Sunday, the sources said, adding, he was out of danger and undergoing treatment at an isolation ward.

A high-level meeting of doctors and neurology specialists was held at the Sawai Man Singh hospital to draw a plan and make facilities in a specially created ward to meet any exigency, hospital superintendent Dr P P S Mathur said.

"We do not anticipate any problems, but if any patient reports to the hospital, he/she will be given the best treatment available," Mathur said.

Fifteen people have died of the disease in Delhi so far.
