Both the Central and Western Railways commenced services for the first time in 24 hours on Wednesday.

The Central Railways operated one train from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus to Dadar, while the Western Railway operated one train from Andheri to Borivili and another train from Borivili to Andheri.

Full fledged suburban train services are expected to commence later on Wednesday, and only if the torrential rain that has brought Mumbai to a standstill takes a break.

Train services were cancelled on Tuesday because of the rain.

The incessant downpour in the city has claimed at least seven lives, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation sources said on Wednesday.

Two boys drowned in an overflowing sewer in Marol-Maroshi suburbs while a person died in a wall collapse in the Appa Pada area of Malad in north Mumbai, they said.

Three persons died in wall collapse incidents at Kandivli and Damupada areas, they said adding, a boy drowned at
Goregaon Vibhatti and two persons drowned in the Raheja RBI colony.

Incidents of wall collapse have been reported from several areas of the city, but there were no reports of casualties, the sources added.
