Stampede at religious gathering

Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said the immediate concern of the state government was to provide aid to the wounded in hospitals.

He announced an ex gratia of Rs one lakh to the kin of the deceased and Rs 25,000 to those seriously injured. Also, Rs 10,000 will be given to those with minor injuries.

Deshmukh, along with Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, Water Resource Minister (Krishna) Ramraje Nimbalkar and Satara Guardian Minister Dilip Walse-Patil, visited the site of the stampede.
