Straw sorry for Jallianwala Bagh massacre

British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, who visited Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar [Images] on Thursday, has said he was ashamed that British troops had killed hundreds of innocents there on April 13, 1919.

Straw was visibly perturbed when he visited the place, secretary, Jallianwala Bagh, S K Mukherji said.

Before leaving, the he wrote in the visitor's book: "This was a terrible occasion in which so many innocent Indians were slaughtered, for which I feel ashamed and I feel sorrow."
