Another abducted student in Bihar, a student of DAV Public School in Biharsharif in Nalanda district, was released by his captors after being held captive for a fortnight, a senior police officer said on Saturday.
Nalanda Superintendent of Police A K Ambedkar said Ravi Kant was let off by his captors at Biawan village under the Nagarnausa police station late on Friday night. The boy boarded a bus on Saturday morning and returned to his Biharsharif residence.
Ambedkar said acting on information provided by seven persons, including a constable, taken into custody for interrogation on Friday, a police team went to Biawan village on Friday and mounted search operations. Under pressure, the kidnappers released Ravi Kant at an isolated place.
Ravi Kant's father admitted the abductors had demanded Rs 25 lakh as ransom. The police, however, said no money was paid for the boy's release.
Ravi Kant was kidnapped from near his residence when he was boarding his school bus on January 24.
Earlier, two students -- Kishlay Kaushal of DPS school, Patna; and Deepak Kumar, of DAV Public School, Bhagalpur -- were released by their captors on February 2.
