Sarsanghachalak K S Sudarshan addressed the rally along with chief guest Swami Vishwadevanand Maharaj (second right), the Peethadheeshwar of Sanyas Ashram at Karnavati, Gujarat.
The RSS chief dedicated a major part of his speech to criticising the policies of the left, while notably diluting his critique of the BJP. Describing Leftists as 'Marxputras' and 'Macaulayputras', Sudarshan accused them of conspiring to harm the Hindu forces.
Sudarshan conspicuously skipped the parts of his speech that were critical of the BJP, especially its promise to create jobs for two lakh Urdu teachers. This was a major departure from tradition, as the RSS chief is rarely known to cut out any speech once it is distributed to the press.
The reference to the BJP was made in a section of the speech titled 'On the political system,' in which Sudarshan criticised the frequent elections in the country.
Sudarshan's speech and the presence of Advani and Varun Gandhi were seen as clear indication of the atmosphere of détente.
