June 09, 2004 20:45 IST

External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh will meet US Secretary of State Colin Powell in Washington on Thursday.

The two will discuss recent developments in bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest on regional and international issues, external affairs ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna said in New Delhi.

In this context, US Ambassador David Mulford called on Singh on Wednesday evening.

Singh will leave for Washington on Thursday morning to represent India at the state funeral service of former US president Ronald Reagan on June 11.

The minister will then travel to Geneva, where he has convened a meeting of 40 Indian heads of missions based in Europe.

From Geneva, he will fly to London on a transit visit during which he will meet his British counterpart Jack Straw.
